TROPICAL BIRD RJC (str US L – Euro XL)
These are not copies made in Asia, poor qualities with fitted cuts, which in no way represent the real “Hawaiian style”, but real Hawaiian shirts made in Honolulu, with respect for the art of Aloha Shirts but also working conditions.
The Hawaiian shirt is a loose shirt, with a so-called “US” cut with often bright colors and a casual cut.
A real Hawaiian shirt is above all a guarantee of quality. It is a fabric, 100% cotton or rayon (viscose), of very good hold, a straight cut (called US), a chest pocket totally integrated into the pattern, coconut buttons, and of course a label “Made in Hawaii, Honolulu USA” certifying the origin.
The Hawaiian shirt also known as “Aloha Shirt” appeared between 1920 and 1930 in Hawaii when a tailor from Honolulu Kichiro Miyamoto, began to create shirts from the same fabric as that used in traditional Japanese kimonos.
American soldiers based in Hawaii, after the Second World War, returned home by bringing back in their suitcases a few Hawaiian shirts symbols of a cool attitude that did not exist at the time in the United States. As such, they are full-fledged icons of US Counter-Culture and Tiki Pop Art of course. It became popular thanks to Hollywood when it fell into the hands of actors such as Elvis Presley or Montgomery Clift. She is still present with Al Pacino in Scarface, Tom Selleck in Magnum, Brad Pitt in Fight Club or Once Upon a Time, Leonardo Di Caprio in Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo and Juliet or Johnny Depp in Las Vegas Parano.
Today, it remains ideal, for an evening on the beach, a cocktail, a cool wedding, to drive a Roadster, an American car of the fifties, to display a certain vintage, casual and classy style
This Hawaiian RJC shirt (our oldest brand founded in 1953), made in Honolulu, on a black background is one of ours with a Hot Rod fuck print.
RJC HAWAII Robert J Clancey is one of the pioneers in the design of Hawaiian shirts. This company created in 1953 still belongs to the family. In this collection you will find a few pieces in rayon, a natural-based material made from cellulose obtained with wood or cotton pulp in the pure tradition of the first Aloha Shirts that were cut in Kimono falls. These are Cotton or Rayon shirts (depending on the models), the buttons are always in coconut tree.
